buzzoven (93), Japan Aug 15, 2008 Unbelievable cherry chocolate aromas from this pint of pitch black madness. When served cold, the fizzy mouthfeel and nicely roasted malted flavour guaranteed smooth drinking ahead. But once this brew warms up, it just becomes a mess. The flavour turns slightly sour and acidic and the cherry aspect that was so appealing in the aroma turns into flat Cherry Coke or even worse, fruity antacid tablets! Too bad, this started off interesting. My advice: drink it fast or order a 1/2 pint. ndubs360 (57), portland, Oregon, USA Aug 15, 2008 a dark black stout with a tan/brown head. aroma of black cherries and nothing else. the cherries are a little too much, wish i could have tasted a little more beer, but nonetheless, a great brew. NoiZe (875), Zeist, Netherlands Aug 14, 2008 Tasted @ Horse Brass Pub in Portland.
Black colored brew. Aroma of cherries. Bittersweet flavor with fruity, cherry, taste. Some roasted malts, some coffee and chocolate as well. Pretty decent, but a bit too much on the cherries. stchloe (96), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 29, 2008 IBF ’07 I absolutely love beers mixed with "non-traditional" ingredients. The black cherry was a perfect compliment, and if an extract not saccharine at all. AmEricanbrew (907), Left Coast, Louisiana, USA Jul 22, 2008 Black with a tight tan head. Big cherry soda aroma. Smooth slick mouthfeel. Medium body. Nice balance of artificial cherry soda flavoring with a rich dose of black malts. The fake cherry flavor lingers far too long in the finish, much like a diet soda would, this ruins an otherwise tasty base stout. Draft@ Horse Brass.
