after4ever (1925), Brier, Washington, USA Jun 24, 2008 Growler. Thanks, BitBucket! Not sure what I might have done to deserve this. Hope you tried it and just have it backlogged. :-)<br />
Pours black with a dense, thick, surging burnt tan head. This settles quickly to intermittent sheets of lace and a thing head. Nice big sweet roasty nose--that fresh from the oven stout smell. Chocolate and a bit of char. Mmmm-mm. Body is creamy, medium sized, with just a bit of carb there to prove it’s beer. Liquorice, caramel, and especially roast and chocolate on the mid-palate. Mild nutty bitterness at the finish, with a noticable but well-placed bit of black-patent-y acridity. Lovely beer that could easily wipe out a month of your winter if you let it.
Ibrew2or3 (1925), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Sep 15, 2008 On tap @ Uber Tavern in Seattle. Pours deep and dark with near creamy mocha head. The aroma starts roasty and nutty followed by rich chocolate. The flavor is blended smoothness with roastiness to burnt malts up front followed by notes of chocolate and sweet caramel. Midway burnt malts well up and take over briefly followed by a murmur of dark fruitiness. It ends mildly creamy on the palate with burnt and roasty notes. Wow. Very yummy sweet stout. Bradrcr (631), Renton, Washington, USA Aug 31, 2008 7/19/08 On draught at the Brewpub. Aroma is very creamy with a nice roast/sweet blend. Appearance is black with a medium maintained light tan head. Flavor is roasty sweet cream forward with a slight black malt sourness. Mouthfeel is medium-full bodied with a very low carb texture. Overall, the sweetness and cream are great, but the black malt messes this up a bit. troopie (550), USA Aug 30, 2008 Draught. Poured black with thick lasting tan head. Much lacing.
