Jun 19, 2008 On tap: a dark brown color that smells of chocolate roast. Tastes lighter than it looks but its somewhat sweet with good carbonation. Its looks a little bit like coca cola.

Jun 25, 2007 Dark brown with a silken head. Light, rough roastiness in aroma. Flavors jumble off each other, with a slight nuttiness. More akin to a robust brown ale than a schwarzbier in flavor, but decent overall.

Head is mostly lasting.
Body is dark brown to black.
Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain, cocoa powder/chocolate, husks), lightly hoppy (resin), with a light note of vanilla.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, slightly husky.
Medium body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation.
Not quite a Schwarzbier in the manner I am used to from German examples (too chocolatey and sweet), but not that bad. Rather husky. Good appearance and mouthfeel.
