bkelley68 (467), Lakewood, Ohio, USA Jan 10, 2005 Amber body with and off white head. Citrusy nose. Flavors are mainly of hop resin, but there’s a little bit of malt in there to balnce it out a bit. Jazzy carbonation. Crisp, bitter finish. Ernest (4481), Boulder, Colorado, USA Jan 26, 2003 Updated: Jan 20, 2006Draught, Walnut Brewery.
Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly lasting.
Body is dark yellow.
Aroma is trace to lightly malty (cookie), trace to lightly hoppy (grapefruit), with light notes of chemicals and diacetyl.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, unclean.
Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation.
It’s been three years since I’ve sampled this, so I kinda thought I’d be a little more forgiving on this one (previous rating, 2.6), but man, this is some foul stuff. The usual absence of aroma Walnut is known for, but some unpleasant notes are along for the ride. Dirty aftertaste. The mouthfeel and appearance are nice, but that’s where that ends.
