Commercial Description:
Our medium sweet cider is both refreshing and complex. This cider has a nice medium weight with a warm, smooth texture. A ripe fruit opening balanced by bright acidity and good tannin structure make this a delightful drink alone beverage, but is also a lovely pair for pork, cheese, poultry or vegetables. Beautiful ripe apple aromatics with warm brown sugar, light floral, and citrus notes. Smooth, warm finish with good length. We use only organically grown cider apples from our orchard in Salem and a few select Oregon orchards. We blend French and English cider varieties with heirloom North American heirloom varieties to get the right balance of acidity, tannins, and aromatics. Serve chilled.

The heirloom cider blend is amazing. Reminds me of muscat wine, but with a stronger apple flavor. Pours a light syrup, golden color, very sweet but not sickeningly. One of the best for a romantic night, great desert.

A very cool 750 ml bottle. Listed as the alias. Bought at the Utah State Store. Pours out a crystal clear golden color with a light bubbly head. The aroma is nice apples and sweet notes. The flavor was crisp, clean, and very flavorful, lots of apples, sweet and sort of musty. A top cider for sure, just so clean and nice.

Listed as Wandering Aengus Ciderworks Heirloom Blend, which appears to be an alias for this cider. Pours with a pale clear gold body and a fizzy white ring. Aroma is of sweet apple, some alcohol, must, medicinal qualities, minerals and vinegar. Taste is apples and somewhat sweetish with an odd tartness. The sweetness seems kind of unnatural, as if it was back sweetened after fermentation. Slightly medicinal with some citrus bitterness and sourness. Fizzy but not refreshing, thin mouthfeel.

Not very complex, and not as sweet as the label would have you believe, but this is a relatively tart, appley, frulty cider that’s not of the French variety at all. Not like a Normandy cider, because this Oregon cider lacks the musty, cobwebby, bandaidy flavors that mark the complex French ciders. Instead, it’s somewhat two-dimensional. On the plus side, this Oregon cider hides its alcohol extremely well, perhaps behind the sweetness. Overally, a touch too tart.
