Tinged gold - only slightly reddish, clear. Big head. Grainy lager flavor with an overbearing weird grain bitterness. Light to moderate trailing bitterness in a crackery finish. Starchy mouthfeel. Not as much caramel, toast or roast as I would have expected, however picking up a 12 pack at $9 made this a satisfactory purchase. JPDIPSO (4926), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 17, 2008 Golden color with a moderate off-white head. Light grainy bread dough scents with a hint of floral hops in the background. Really not much going in in the scent to arouse feelings of a fall fest. Caramel and doughy flour glue flavors. Some more floral hops in the middle and into the finish. Light malt finish and a little spice kick in the linger. More like a euro lager than a rich oktoberfest. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 16, 2008 Tallahassee, Fl. - Publix Supermarkets - 11.2 oz bottle. Sparkly, medium orange pour with a soapy white head. Grainy, peppery aroma with hints of corn. Flavor has some wort-like essence to it with some peppery notes, some corniness and just a hint of ripening vegetable funkiness. Mouthfeel is slightly dry. Uninspiring. scoth (284), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 11, 2008 Bottle. Pours clear, light golden-amber with a big puffy white head. Smells of caramel, apples and raisin. Medium body for a lager. Mild, but sweet malt flavor, with a little fruit and caramel, slight mineral flavor. Some noble hops shine through in the finish and aftertaste. Doesn’t seem to be very typical of the style. If memory serves, the difference between this and the Warsteiner Premium Verum are subtle. Very drinkable. MrBunn (1542), Western, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 5, 2008 Bottle. Pours a transparent gold with a big, fluffy head and light aromas: sweet malt with a touch of grassy hops... Flavor is very sweet... malt presence is honey-like, and finish is kind of grassy without much other complexity to merit commentary. Refreshing Oktoberfest. Oakes (8101), gone rambling, Cambodia
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 4, 2008 Light golden-brown colour. Fresh grainy aroma and light caramel. Somewhat watery of body, and a little caramelly. Reminds me of some Russian dark lagers. Beershine (2710), Traipsing Around, Cambodia
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Oct 2, 2008 Bottle @ PRL. Ultra clear medium gold with sizable head. Some phenols and acetone coming out in the aroma. Also the smell of freshly varnished wood but enough leafy and grassy aromas to make me at least want to take a sip...syrupy, oily mouthfeel. Sugary syrup, some plastic in the flavors too. Not liking it at all. PilsnerPeter (2617), Flushing, New York, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 30, 2008 Many bottles: Pours a deep golden with a fizzy white film of head. The aroma is sweet German malts with doughy notes and a subtle apple spice touch. The flavor has a doughy, semi-sweet German malt bite, mildly spicy with a paper/oxidation touch and a dryish Euro-hop finish. Balanced and fairly true to style. Just a tad sweet without enough depth. Pretty clean.
