scoth (266), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Dec 15, 2008 Bottle. Pours clear, rich-brown with a big one-finger head, good lacing. Smells of apple and caramel. Thin body. Pleasant malty flavor, tastes much like the aroma. A little mineral flavor compliments the sweetness. A slight bitter aftertaste of noble-hops. Very smooth, balanced, and drinkable. jrob21 (1252), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Dec 10, 2008 I was surprised to see I had not rated this yet. Anyways, pours clear straight brown color. Aroma of mainly toasted grain and wheat. Flavor is a little light after such a big aroma. Slight caramel sweetness and bread flavor. Bit of a bitter finish. Those hops surprised me a bit. This is one of those beers you give to your friends who say they do not like dark beers. GAManiac (1123), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Dec 9, 2008 Pours a clear dark mahogany with a small head that lingers as a cap for a while and leaves no lacing. The aroma is nice with tons of roasted malts and a bit of smoke on top of a light breadiness. The taste is not quite as full as the aroma with a sweet maltiness that flows into a grainy aftertaste with no hops to be found. The smokiness is not as prominent as the aroma either. The mouthfeel is thin with decent carbonation. This is a decent session lager though with very little complexity. Basic but drinkable. jjuf1853 (467), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA Dec 6, 2008 Bottle pours a clear, mohogany color with a beige head. Some lacing along the glass. Sweet grain aroma. Flavor is light, sweet and malty. The finish is clean and it has a decent dry aftertaste. wheelz843 (203), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Nov 28, 2008 bottle. has a very sweet aroma, wheaty aroma. pours a dark brown with a thin tan head. has a very plain yet easy to drink flavor. bit of a carmel aftertaste. esjaygee (1467), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Nov 28, 2008 Opens to a loud dud. Brown with a thin tan head. Aroma of mild skunk, grain and toasted malt. Taste of caramel and some mild dark malts but mostly tasteless and bland with a dry finish. RWWP (18), Ancaster, Ontario, Canada Nov 21, 2008 Typical German bland lager - just darker. After I finished it, I couldn’t remember much of anything about it. JLAudio (282), Crestwood, Illinois, USA Nov 21, 2008 This is such an underrated beer. I love it so much because it is a perfect cigar compliment. It has the perfect mouthfeel for this style, better than any other I’ve had. It has a long, smooth, easy going finish. One of the beers you don’t have to think about.
