Aroma is sweet light roast forward with a background of soft fruity esters. Appearance is slightly hazy brown with a moderate maintained off-white head. Flavor is sweet roast with munich malt forward with a slightly fruity character and medium roasty bittering. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a medium carb textre. Overall, this is the classic example, but a little light on character. Meatmallet (120), Salem, Illinois, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Dec 16, 2008 Kind of a mahogany color with a small tan head that disappears quickly to leave a small head with very little lacing.
Smells like dark roasted malts and not a lot else.Taste is kind of dry with a sour carbonated bite. A carmel taste without any of the sweetness.Nothing special and definately not something I could drink more than one of.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 15, 2008 Bottle. Pours clear, rich-brown with a big one-finger head, good lacing. Smells of apple and caramel. Thin body. Pleasant malty flavor, tastes much like the aroma. A little mineral flavor compliments the sweetness. A slight bitter aftertaste of noble-hops. Very smooth, balanced, and drinkable. jrob21 (1257), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Dec 10, 2008 I was surprised to see I had not rated this yet. Anyways, pours clear straight brown color. Aroma of mainly toasted grain and wheat. Flavor is a little light after such a big aroma. Slight caramel sweetness and bread flavor. Bit of a bitter finish. Those hops surprised me a bit. This is one of those beers you give to your friends who say they do not like dark beers. GAManiac (1141), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 9, 2008 Pours a clear dark mahogany with a small head that lingers as a cap for a while and leaves no lacing. The aroma is nice with tons of roasted malts and a bit of smoke on top of a light breadiness. The taste is not quite as full as the aroma with a sweet maltiness that flows into a grainy aftertaste with no hops to be found. The smokiness is not as prominent as the aroma either. The mouthfeel is thin with decent carbonation. This is a decent session lager though with very little complexity. Basic but drinkable. jjuf1853 (471), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA
