I thought i was going to like this one a bit more
A more detailed description will follow on a second tasting
I have misplaced my comments for this beer rodenbach99 (678), Longueuil, Quebec, Canada Oct 12, 2008 canette de 500ml, bière brune foncée à la manière d’une münchener, nez éparse de lager blonde, en bouche rien d’étaonnant, pas de caractère, manque de rondeur. CaryTheDude (1113), Longmont, Colorado, USA Oct 8, 2008 About as watery as a beer gets. Pretty much all malt, if you can call it that, cuz there’s hardly any malt in there. Light as hell, transparent even though it’s a dunkel. UriahHeep (103), Georgia, USA Oct 8, 2008 A very dark and moderately distinctive dunkel. Mouthfeel is slightly creamy and savory, with prominent roasted malts. Chocolate sweetness follows, rolling through hints of bitterness. When it finishes there is some skunkiness in the aftertaste, but not too much to complain about overall. A clean and refreshing beer that’s moderately heavy. I wouldn’t drink more than 3 of these at once. agillespie81 (190), Denver, Colorado, USA Oct 6, 2008 Dark brown color...almost opaque. Fluffy head, though it fades a bit fast. Aroma of sweet malt, with just a hint of bitterness. Slightly sweet malt flavor up front...very crisp, light mouthfeel. Back is joined by a subtle hop bitterness, with somewhat of a sweet aftertaste. Pretty basic dark pilsner...very easy drinking, while only possessing a slight complexity. Rastacouere (5551), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Oct 2, 2008 Draft @ Schmidts, Columbus German Village. A very sweet dunkel that reminded me of the least interesting Austrian example with its plummy notes, though the mineral side of this German rendition did seem out of place. After a few sip, it really tastes pretty much like raisin bread over which you’d throw a small amount of chocolate powder. Light-medium bodied, not so easy to drink as you may think. Fair, but I would not bother again. mpreston (10), Garland, Texas, USA Oct 1, 2008 Bottle. very cola looking. not bad at all. surpised i like it. not a fan of war. pilsner but this was good. piscator34 (1121), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Sep 30, 2008 Canned sample. Cola coloured, with medium carbonation. Aromas of minerals, stale malts, and a bit of lemon. Flavors are of whole wheat toast, a bit of roasted malt, and a bit of red apple. Farily dry finishing, albeit somewhat chemical-like. Not nearly roasty or flavorful enough.
