IlanMan (816), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA Jul 6, 2008 Pour was medium dark with light tan head. Aroma of light caramel and malt. Flavor was watered down grain finishing lightly bitter and sweet. Clean and refreshing but nothing special. Won’t buy again. maniac4016 (114), bill clinton, Iceland Jul 5, 2008 nice & clean looks are deciving & this beer is lighter than it looks but flavors are nice & clean all way through Paul150 (37), , Georgia, USA Jun 30, 2008 This was my first Dunkel I tried, having previously had Warsteiner’s Premium Verum. The aroma was slight and of roasted malts. When I drank this at home, it was straight out of the bottle, so I have little input on the appearance. I liked the overall flavor. It was mostly of roasted malts and a slight coffee. However, I was expecting a slightly stronger roasted taste. Nothing was wrong with the taste, though. The texture was very smooth and drinkable, though a bit watery. Overall an enjoyable beer but nothing spectacular. subcell (95), Portsmouth, Virginia, USA Jun 29, 2008 Wow... I enjoy the Premium Verum but this is just awful. It looked pleasant as a dunkel should look but the taste was just far from pleasing. It was thin in body and the hop flavor was not good. brewssuds (17), British Columbia, Canada Jun 29, 2008 Pours very clear. Brown colour with tan head. Malty taste with sweet undertones. Quite enjoyable and very drinkable. Sparky27 (1559), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Jun 28, 2008 Bottle. Pours a clear brown with minimal tan head and zero lacing. Nose is caramel malts and nuts. Taste reminds me of sweet tea you get in the south that’s a couple days old… sweet, but with some stale funk. Medium mouth feel. A little flat and dull. DaMenace123 (250), Houston, Texas, USA Jun 21, 2008 Dark brown pour. Pretty straightforward taste of malt and some coffee. Enjoyable but nothing special. Boutip (2333), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Jun 17, 2008 Bottle: Poured a deep clear brown color dunkel with a medium foamy head with average retention and no lacing. Aroma of light sweet caramel malt is pretty neutral. Taste is very bland with light caramel malt with not much character. Very bland and boring version of the style and not something I am about to buy again anytime soon.
