| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 12, 2008 330 ml, bb 20 Jun 08. Three finger head with a translucent ruby-chestnut body. Molasses and roasted corn aroma. Similar flavor with a touch of sourish yeast for a little complexity. Near-medium body is smooth, slightly chalky-dry, and a little tingly on the tongue. Fairly typical example of the style. CelticBrew (691), The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 11, 2008 12 oz. brown bottle. Poured out the color of brown shoe polish, with a minimal white head on it. Aromas are of roasted malts, some yeastiness, and not much else. I can barely detect a smattering of hops, but it is fleeting. Tastes are of malts, some coffee notes, yeast, and a slight, but quickly disappearing note of hops. Slightly bitter tasting, but it’s more from the malts than the hops. Mouth feel is smooth enough and the finish slightly bitter, but this is essentially a macro dunkel. Drinkable enough but not complex. EricE (450), Fairfax, Virginia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 11, 2008 Clear dark brown with a thick long lasting white head. Very grainy aroma. Smells almost like honey wheat bread. Tastes like a hearty bread with some sweetness and hops. Simple but good. AlcoholChair (10), Godfrey, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 10, 2008 Good beer. I had this after tasting Hobgoblin and it didn’t quite match up but wasn’t too far. A dark and smokey taste, not as nutty or fruity. A good rich beer full of flavor. ELab2 (38), USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Apr 7, 2008 Light aroma. Really rich color. Light body but with a nice malty flavor and slightly bitter after taste. Solid Dunkel that isn’t too difficult to find compared to other Dunkels. Frauditor (148), Hagerstown, Maryland, USA
