The aroma is a little sweet, notes of carmel and nuts. Herbal notes as well. Taste is medium sweet, soft, malty. Not bad, but not what I was looking for or expecting in a dunkel. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 14, 2007 Can. Dark-brown appearance with minor translucency. Vague aroma of chocolate malt and a drop of molasses as the beverage warms. Quite drinkable and easygoing, with smooth chocolate flavour and light cream-coffee finish. A simple, enjoyable dark lager. Brune acajoux, pas de collet. Arome de malte légèrement torrifié, notes de patite fruits des champs. Goût de malte faiblement roti, un peu de réglisse. Pas trop impressionante! | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Dec 1, 2007 330 mL bottle. Dark mahogany brown with absolutely no head. None. Sweetish caramel malty aroma. Taste is quite malty, and there may be a little malt in there. Very mild on the hops. Medium to thin body. Disappointing. chadzter (94), huntsville, Alabama, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Dec 1, 2007 Bottle. Pours a brown with a hue of red with fizzy head that was tan. Flavor was thin and watery with a light sweetness, maybe brown sugar. Palate was a bit to sharp with nothing to balance it out. ucusty (1879), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Nov 26, 2007 A good but not great Dunkel. Color was a solid deep reddish brown... but very little head. Aroma was OK... a bit too smoky for me. Taste was somewhat bland. An OK beer. I wouldn’t buy it again imdownthepub (5119), Banbury, Oxfordshire, England
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Nov 25, 2007 On tap on a stall at The German Christmas Market in Birmingham. Dark brown to black with cream fizzed head. Boy did I have to search around this market to find something worth drinking, this was slightly thin and sweetish, but did have a sharp fruitiness that rescued the score. Blooming expensive though, I headed directly back to the pubs after this.
