JRHBrew (216), Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada Sep 22, 2009 Not terrible but not fantastic. Lacks character could be more malty. Has a sweetness but more of a yellow beer sweetness. Weird. 1010 (206), Marysville, Ohio, USA Sep 17, 2009 Pours a deep brown with a tan head that quickly disapates into nothing. Taste of malt without much depth.
12 oz. bottle Fratto (662), Arlington, Texas, USA Sep 14, 2009 Dark, but very clear pour with a white head. Aroma has caramel and a little fruit. Roasted flavor. Aftertaste is semi-dry. GMUcrew7 (353), Mason, Ohio, USA Sep 12, 2009 Pours transparent dark brown with a light tan head. Nice strong malty aroma, some nuttiness. Similar flavor, mostly roasted malt, a little caramel and a hint of sour raisins. Clean and light bodied, decent but nothing special. DerWeg (748), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 2, 2009 500ml can, pours dark clear ruddy brown with bit of white head, active carbonation but not extreme. Smells lightly of darker malt. Taste toffee grapes caramel and raisin. Lingering late note of nicely dring hop and just a hint of acidity. Right on keel as a refreshing Dunkel and one of the more palatable of the major-brand German beers. DarkSong (101), Dacula, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2009 11.2 oz bottle. Pours a dark reddish brown with a large quickly vanishing off white head. It has a faint aroma of chocolate. Tastes of toffee, cookie and caramel with a hint of chocolate. I thought this was a pretty good but not great beer. Headbanger (1574), Aurora, Illinois, USA Aug 30, 2009 12oz bottle 8/30/09 (Binny’s Naperville)-Pours dark brown iwth some amber tints and a small off white head. Aroma of nothing. Taste of malt. This light bodied is almost as bad as their basic beer. Unimpressed but still decent to drink. strowlands8 (75), Ontario, Canada Aug 19, 2009 Watered down, not much flavor and not full bodied at all as the style demands. not terrible but pretty disappointing.
