jeg (115), Austin, Texas, USA Oct 31, 2007 Dark color, off-white head. Sweet toffee malty taste, a bit too carbonated and watery. Not bad, but prettty ordinary. Codythegreat (133), Carrollton, Georgia, USA Oct 29, 2007 Pors a very dark bown with a head that discipates quickly. The aorma was pretty good. Reminded me a little but of hazlenut. The flavor is allright but it doesn’t stick around in the mouth that long. Tastes malty. Not a very exciting beer. I drank this out of a lager glass. closey22 (31), Mt. Laurel, New Jersey, USA Oct 26, 2007 Appears clear like cola, head remains; Aroma is similar to urine; flavor fades t metal; finishes with a straight bitter bite. WORSTeiner. mgumby10 (1844), Jupiter, Florida, USA Oct 25, 2007 Pours a dark caramel brown, with a small off white head. Pretty clear. Smells of some toasted malts, light dark fruit and caramel. Nothing really inspiring here. Maybe some berries and molasses as well. The flavor is light bodied, with limited flavor. Subtle dark fruits and caramel malts was really it. Certainly could have used a little more body, maybe some more banana and fruitflavors to give it something. Very underwhelming. yarry (370), Waterdown, Ontario, Canada Oct 20, 2007 50cl can, 4.8% a/v
Pours cola brown with a nice tan head, densely formed. Nose is roasted grains and a slight hint at spice. Sweet, roasty tongue which could definetly use more hops. Mouthfeel was very watery, and the aftertaste was nothing special. scrizzz (1250), kirkland, Washington, USA Oct 19, 2007 roasted grain aroma only a whisper, though it LOOKS like a respectable beer; fluffy pale tan head, dark clear umber hue. tastes like iron on the front of the tongue, mild sweetness and an absent hop balance. JesseM (660), Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada Oct 19, 2007 Updated: Oct 28, 2008500ml can into a tall German Lager glass. Pours a deep redish brown, just like cola, with a small light-brown head. Smells mostly of malts and sweet things. The taste is very big on sweet roasted malts, with some other sweet elements thrown in, I almost tasted some berries in there. It’s somewhat well rounded off by some bitterness in the finish, but I found that to be a little weak and inconsistent, though the roasty malt body is pretty tasty. Not a very big mouth-feel, with low to medium carbonation. Not bad over-all, I’m sure there’s plenty of better examples of this style, but I’m glad to see the LCBO seems to alomost be expanding their horizons. A good ’go-to’ beer as it’s always very well priced and well worth it.
BOBANDDOUG (61), Belleville, Illinois, USA Oct 18, 2007 Pours dark, cola brown, medium tan head. Fades fast.
Smell of malt & bread.
Tastes of malt, and a bit of a yeasty feel. Finishes a bit sweet, not bad.
Not the "biggest" dunkel I have had, but, not a bad session beer at all. Almost seems as if the flavors were tweaked back.
