| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 1/5 | 13/20 | Oct 7, 2007 Curious weak aroma of unroasted malts. Brown color, thin tan head. Wonderfully strong taste of roasted oats and barley. Clean finish. Hammster (187), Eagan, Minnesota, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Oct 6, 2007 Bottle. Pours a dark ruby with a bone-white head. Coffee malt and some hops in the nose. The flavor is flat and non-complex. A very light roasted nut flavor. The finish is weak roasted malts. This beer is drinkable but with its weak flavor I don’t know why anyone would want to. | 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/20 | Oct 6, 2007 Aroma is a sweet lightly roasted malt scent. Color is a deep bright amber with very good carbonation and a nice head. Taste light, crisp and bitter. Starting with a light body it goes down crisp with a light roasted flavor. Finish comes on with bland malt bitterness backed by a very light roasted taste. It is lacking in flavor and the first couple of drinks are not too good. BallyLoser (134), Redmond, Washington, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Oct 1, 2007 A bit watery. Not what I expected for a dark. light on body and thin on taste. TheBeerMaster (100), Little Falls, New Jersey, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Sep 28, 2007 Interesting aroma, almost a sugary Guinness, with a sweet aftertaste to it. The beer looks inviting enough, but the product isn’t something I’d be willing to try again. Also of note: a slight nuttiness to its taste, whch only comes out after taking a few sips.
Also, the guy who posts above me is queer. FistFullOfCats (162), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA
| 1.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Sep 27, 2007 Bottle. Looks identical to coke when poured, same head and everything, even the lacing. Aroma is odd, like cold spinach. and stale Highlife. Flavor is malty, with the slightest hint of raisins, like it’s trying to be a doppelbock. Standard sort of hazelnuttiness you get out of most brown beers. Finishes a little sticky, but the back end nuttiness is good. Body is way to this for the flavor; this feels like malt liquor. Disappointing, as I actually like the verum. Aroma does get better (brown sugar) as it warms. JJClark (545), Roscoe, Illinois, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Sep 23, 2007 On tap. Pours a dark brown color with almost no head. Watery thin apperance. Aroma of smoked nuts and charcoal. Taste is of weak, burnt old coffee with slight malt under tone. Pretty bland and boring.
