theisti (1640), Leawood, Kansas, USA Oct 25, 2006 Bottle. Pours dark amber, though taste is very light. A bit sweet on first taste, nice hoppiness to the finish. I have had a pretty decent range of tastes from this beer, depending on freshness. milewide (609), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Oct 20, 2006 Dark ruby brown color. You can smell and taste the roasted malt, but pretty light bodied. bitbucket (2026), Kirkland, Washington, USA Oct 16, 2006 Bottle. Pours a clear dark amber with a lacy off-white head. Aromas of nuts, hay and herbs. The body is light with soft carbonation. Taste is nutty, with hay, caramel and a bit of vanilla in the somewhat watery finish. cheapdark (2011), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 16, 2006 Updated: Nov 12, 2006Nice label. Very good repeating beer. Nice dark beer with a transparent sight. Very smooth while drinking out of my steelers mug. Finish has a little lasting slight malt or hop. kimcgolf (824), Dacula, Georgia, USA Oct 14, 2006 I was really disappointed by this beer, so much so that I think it may have just been a bad sample. I used to drink this occassionally, before I started rating and trying various beers, and I liked it. But I’ll go with what I had tonite. Poured to a medium brown, with a very thin off-white head, that dissipated almost immediately, and left little lacing. Aroma was almost skunky, with just a hint of malt. Flavor was nothing special, and the finish was very dry. I will most likely try this one again just to give it a fair shot at redemption. Airlifter (116), Shawnee, Kansas, USA Oct 14, 2006 Moderately dark. Slight charcoal taste. Mildly sweet, but with a bitter aftertaste. edfitz (114), Toledo, Ohio, USA Oct 13, 2006 Deep brown in color. Aroma does not represent the flavor. Roasted chocolate taste. I have seen it around a lot more lately, even at a wedding. Good beer. bobaidan (358), Farmington, Connecticut, USA Oct 11, 2006 Pours very dark with a smallish head. Aroma is all malt with a hint of roasted chocolote. Flavor is mostly sweet, but not overbearingly so. Roasted flavors of chocolate. A mild hop bite helps to balance this beer. A bready aftertaste follows, and lingers long enough to make you want another sip. I enjoyed this beer very much.
