Aroma of toasted malt, light bread, and caramel. Taste is sweet chocolate and caramel malt, with a bit of chewiness for added body. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with lively carbonation. A clean and drinkable dunkel. BBB63 (4222), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Jun 8, 2006 Bottle and served in a big ole stein: Poured a rich mahogany hue topped a fading frothy beige head and okay lace. The nose is a weak characterisctics of caramel, toffee, walnut, allspice, and grassy hops. The taste clean blend of malt and noble grassy hops balanced sweet and bitterness. Sadly for the balance there is little depth. A session Dunkel bier I guess. There is a note of a vegetal flavor on the aftertaste which is lightly distracting. The mouth feel is fizzy and watery. I too was left wanting more, an almost macro dunkel, sad. iowaherkeye (1844), Bakersfield, California, USA

Pours a clear mahogany with a tiny light beige head. Aroma of toasted malts, nuts, biscuits. Taste is very nutty and biscuity, with a little bit of sourness toward the end. Slight bitter chalky finish. Light bodied, soft carbonation. Not a bad beer. eaglefan538 (2358), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | May 31, 2006 Mixed reviews on this one. No strong aroma and the beer wasn’t as thick as I was expecting. Enjoyed it more on draft than I did in the bottle (the latter, which took on a slight grassy taste). I was left wanting more from this German dunkel, but would have one again. ardmoreryan (7), Ardmore, Pennsylvania, USA does not count | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 22, 2006 Delicious. Tastes of hops, roasted coffee, chocolate, and spices. Scents of a lager (malt, hops) and chocolate. Very unique and drinkable.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 17, 2006 This beer pours a dark brown/amber color with little to no head. There is a very strong smokey, malty smell and flavor. This is a very smooth but not very complex beer. This beer is easy to drink and I would probably have it again. Cheers!
