| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Apr 23, 2006 Awfully light on flavor. Not bad, but pretty mediocre as German beers go. Light malt and a hint of hops. Agree with frankenkitty on the touch of vegetal flavor. frankenkitty (1900), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA

Clear sepia/cola brown with a thin cream-colored head. Light metallic notes and a touch of weak coffee in the aroma with caramel underpinnings and light sour vegetables. Stale caramel flavor with a sour finish. I fear this may be past its prime regardless of the fact that we’re well within the drinkability window.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 18, 2006 Pours deep, dark brown with a toamy tan head. Unique aromas of kidney beans and southwest seasonings. Flavor was nice... a clean, sweet caramel malt with a barely noticeable bitterness on the backend of the pull. Almost reminded me of a sweet nut-brown ale. Everything comes together nicely, with mildly sweet aftereffects mingling around with a light astringency, bitterness growing in the finish. A nice medium-caramel mouthfeel accompanies the whole experience, and trust me, the experience begs another! Very well-balanced brew. vyvvy (2023), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 17, 2006 Pours dark brown / amber with a tannish head. Arorma is toasted musty malt. Medium bodied with light carbonation - some oily aspects as well. Taste is roasted malts, oatmeal aspects then dark caramel flavor. Finish has a little bit of a hop bite, but it is mainly the malt that lingers through. Light bit of astringency on the finish. An okay beer, but I wouldn’t seek it out. mj (4992), Colorado, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Apr 14, 2006 Bottle. Toasted, starchy oatmeal and dusty malt nose. Slightly prickly up front, rolls over the tongue a little caustic in texture, slightly sweet up front with a slightly spoiled taste over the middle, but smoothing out in the finish, leaving a oat, toast and (mildly) charred maple resin.
