patrick767 (2016), fort wayne, Indiana, USA Apr 9, 2006 bottle - Pours brown with a moderate head. The smell is mostly roasted malts. The smooth, moderately thick palate brings in the nice roast malt flavors in this simple but fairly tastey beer. It’s not great, but it is a solid session beer. SDalkoholic (1186), Chula Vista, California, USA Apr 8, 2006 Average in its color with a normal brown. Aroma is soft with a light touch of malt. The flavor is weak with minimum notes of caramel and malt. Not memorable dunkel in mu opinion. cewldre (268), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Apr 8, 2006 Updated: Apr 24, 2006Nothing outlandish in this beer. It tastes and smells of roasted malt. A decent that didnt stick around for to long. Dark ruby color. Tasted a bit bitter sweet. Very easy drinking. Hops are light. ncyankee (23), Durham, North Carolina, USA Apr 3, 2006 Slight metallic taste and smell. A little thin and bland. Really nothing distinctive. Oycpff (93), USA Mar 29, 2006 bottle : deep cherry wood or mahogany color. decent head with big fat bubbles, but pretty short-lived..leaves a nice ring though and a tiny bit of lacing..moderate carbonation. aroma is of mildly smoky malts (reminiscent, to me, of a smoked turkey at thanksgiving). flavor has a slight smoky quality to it and a hair of nuttiness as well SamAdams777 (37), Abilene or Stephenville, Texas, USA Mar 19, 2006 Very light smell, kind of weaker in color then i expected. The taste more then makes up for that, and that what counts in my book. Its not a heavy beer, but it has a nice acidic, malty taste. The aftertaste is supreme. I stil think Sam Adams black lager is better then this. I like it though, alot. bitter (1137), Henderson, Nevada, USA Mar 16, 2006 we used to drink warsteiner by the pitchers at one of our favorite watering holes...$5.oo cant go wrong. its an aquired taste has a bit of a metallic taste. less alcohol then expected and a bit thin. roasted malt knocks a bit but not forbidding. trafford (171), Germantown, Tennessee, USA Mar 7, 2006 The Dunkel (dark) Warsteiner is better than the Premium Verum. I first had this at the OKtoberfest in Cincy and had so many it took me a few years to give it a try. Smooth, heavy on the palate, and slightly effervescant with a lingering after taste.
