Poured medium dark with ruby highlights. 2 inch thick white foamy/creamy head. Fruity aroma. Flavor was malty and earthy (mushroom tones), not what I was expecting, was it skunked? Taste wasn’t offensive Carbonation was good, Mouthfeel was light. eboats (887), Omaha, Nebraska, USA Dec 31, 2005 Dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is dirt, malt, and oreo. Smooth sweet somewhat malty. Has some caramel taste to it as well as cookie dough. A little nuttiness and some chocolate. All the flavors are subtle and sweet. Very smooth, could use more body. shrubber85 (2833), Wallhalben, Germany Dec 31, 2005 Bottle. Nutty dark malt and caramel aroma. Dark reddish brown color with slight head. Nice complex flavor for the style - hazlenut initially followed by caramel malt and ending with a mixture of chocolate and hops. Nice mouthfeel. Moderate carbonation. A very good dunkel that should be easily assessible muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA Dec 31, 2005 12 oz bottle in a motel room in Sandusky, OH. Dark caramel with a small lasting head...dry, roasty-grainy aroma, surprisingly fresh but unimaginative...body a bit earthy and herbal, again fairly dry...mouthfeel fairly bland and rather watery. stoutchap (297), Chicago, Illinois, USA Dec 29, 2005 Poured a nutty brown with a small bubbly white head. Leaves nice lace. Aromas of floral hops, herbs, citrus, grass yeast, and alcohol. Flavor is bright, crisp and clean, with complex undertones of grain, citrus, noble hops and fruit. Nice dry finish. Was a perfect complement to my Christmas duck. BeerBlockaid (538), Jacksonville, Florida, USA Dec 25, 2005 Bottle in a loud, dark indie rock club. Dark semi bitter malts. mostly caramel with a metallic sort of reflection. Not too good on the dunkle tip. Kinda like cookie tasting but not quite cookie dough. Its an easy drinker, not bad...but not great.
