newtrip (55), USA Oct 25, 2005 Pours without much of a head and quickly dissipates. Color is dark brown. Nose is of caramel. Taste is sweet, malty, light roasted coffee flavors. Finish is slightly dry with some hop bitterness. It does bite a little, seems like there might be too much artifical carbonation? I’m not even sure that they add extra carbonation, but it seems that way to me. It’s not a bad beer, just not very complex. It is easy to drink however and makes a nice session beer. ELPADRINO (70), The Woodlands, Texas, USA Oct 23, 2005 Pours a dark cherry color with quickly disappearing head. With no head, aroma is lacking but a little hint of syrup. Flavor is sweet, syrupy with berries in the background. If it were socially acceptable, this beer might go well with pancakes. I’m usually not a fan of high carbonation, but this one goes flat quickly, leaving the taste a little watery. For me, very middle of the road. SwedeDog (364), Windsor, Connecticut, USA Oct 19, 2005 Updated: Dec 28, 2005Bottle. Pours like cola, dark brown with a quick little head. Aroma has a little metal and a little funk (but not in a saison-good-funk way) Flavor is sweet with malt and nasty with rusty metal. I guess they went above the call of duty on that one. Anyone can throw metal in there, but to use rusty metal ... sheer genius. Not one I’d like again. Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Oct 15, 2005 On tap at the Virginia Beach Brewfest. Dark brown with an impressive white head. Weak coffee taste, with a hop bite at the end. Smooth palate - not bad, but not something I’d seek out. heemer77 (4294), Savannah, Missouri, USA Oct 5, 2005 On tap at the local Old Chicago, Coralville, IA. The body is a very dark brown with some red showing through. The aroam had bubblegum and some fresh grass. There was also a little bit of hay. The taste is slightly dry with some light tobacco and hay. Finishes with funky mushrooms and bread. I like this one as a session beer. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA Sep 26, 2005 12 oz bottle consumed In Wings in Myrtle Beach SC. Pours brown with a short offwhite head. Aroma is brief coffee and small hops. Flavor is very similar. A bit of chocolate as well. Palate is thin and watery as expected from a dunkel. Drinkable but not worth seeking out in the future. biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA Sep 18, 2005 Roast grain and coffee aroma. Truely brown color with a thin head. Sweet with a light coffee flavor and a hint of bitterness. Lacking in body. Somewhat one dimensional. icarus (54), The Colony, Texas, USA Sep 18, 2005 Nothing wrong here. It is a lager and its a good lager. Sweet and smooth, malty grainy taste.
