Aroma almost entirely caramel malt with some light nuttiness. Flavor has a bit of roastiness, but mostly just standard malt. Not bad, very sessionable at the very least. dkoonce (883), People’s Republic of Athens, Ohio, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 20, 2009 Bottle. Pours clear brown, with a massive head that fills the glass, and then some. The aroma is minimal, with malt, caramel and alcohol. Light and malty, typical of a German beer. ben4321 (984), Rockville, Maryland, USA

I haven’t had this one in a while. This is a decent beer, it’s typically German in style, and a good starter beer for non beer nuts who prefer a darker beer. After taste is not really there so leaves a very flat taste. Head forms very weak and disappears quickly. More like a soda. Color a pretty amber.
Tastes very bready. smells...stinks for a beir. Nothing to get excited about. Not a great beer for me. BillKismet (1903), Seattle, Washington, USA

Nutty and brown malt accented aroma. Good ratio of munich and brown malt in the body lending a nice nuttiness atop a malty backing. Medium-bodied with a beery underpinning. Moderately dry and bitterish nut finish. Not bad at all. A respectable budget buy. Cirrhosis (615), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jun 8, 2009 "What the hell I swear the cap on this beer has a slight pink hue to it, body reminds me of a glass of coke dark, dark brown almost black, the light pink cap had not bad retention. This aroma is horrible what I can only describe as sour yuck, mixed with barn dust also throw in some mild spice, I don’t like this aroma one bit. Taste seems fairly average but not really all that good but its not putrid like the smell, it’s mostly bready with some noticeable alcohol and I swear I taste a touch of vanilla. Mouth feel is crappy to soft thin and flat, that’s all I want to say about it. Overall this beer is disappointing smells like crap, taste ok and is easily forgettable. Done while playing cards with Nat, beercronic and Leah." alexanderj (2227), Chino Hills, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 1, 2009 On tap. I thought I had rated this, so I am lucky I took down some notes. Color was darkish amber. Flavor was chalky, roasted and bready. I couldn’t pick up much aroma. Better than expected. BeerBaron617 (306), Novi, Michigan, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | May 31, 2009 I had this on tab at Zehnder’s family restaurant in Frankenmuth, MI. It poured a dark brown with tan head, although it was extra "heady" due to an improper pour by the inexperienced barkeep. Anywho, the aroma and flavor were nothing more than subtle, with the slightest bit of hop character on the finish. I would say a decent session brew, but nothing to write home about. I would honestly only get this again while visiting this little German Michigan town. Cheers!
