metalboozer (28), Jamison, Pennsylvania, USA May 31, 2005 Pours dark brown with a long lasting head. Finish is a little bit strong. Bought for $24 a case in PA, good bang for your buck. BeerandBlues2 (3201), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA May 27, 2005 Bottle. Pours nut brown to mahagoney with some brown head as it pours then completely dissipates. Aroma is caramel and brown sugar malt with a light chocolate nose. Initial flavor is fizzy caramel malt, slightly toasted. Finishes a little hoppy and spicy with faint chocolate notes. Medium bodied and fizzy palate, warming. Zeswaft (1000), Seattle, Washington, USA May 10, 2005 Dark brown with light malt aroma. Has a thick mouthfeel. Kinda sweet. Above average for those cheap european beers that you can buy at the grocery store. KUEric (632), Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA May 9, 2005 Updated: Jun 6, 2005On tap: A dark lager for a nonstout -although I must admit I am unfamiliar with dunkels. Thought it had a nice taste to it (earthy with undertones of caramel and fruit) ...nothing spectacular, but enjoyable. The head was very nice. arjoseph (594), Chicago, Illinois, USA Apr 30, 2005 Bottle into tulip glass. Clear amber brown in the glass with a white fizzy head of medium size, diminishing to a dusting of bubbles in teh center with a ring on the edge. Lacing is ok but oily; great sub-surface "racing." Yeasty smell with notes of wet green grass; pilsener hops; fresh and earthy overall. Taste was of fructose, prickly acid turning tangy; like a honeydew melon. NO bitter in the hops. Some stickiness in the finish, which was also dusty and smoky malt. Prickly nature might have been roast malt. Smooth and drinkable with a light to medium body. osmg95 (44), Florida, USA Apr 23, 2005 An even flavored light nutty beer. A hint of carmel, it’s very light on the palate. No bursting of flavor here. It’s smooth but nothing extraordinary. I drank this beer around 55F to get the most of its flavor. Not a favorate but I wouln’t pass on it. crzybob77 (528), Richmond, Virginia, USA Apr 18, 2005 Somewhat dark brown color. Nutty sweet aroma. Flavor is about the same. A simple but pleasant beer. Nothing exceptional, but i wouldn’t complain if you passed me one. henry3r (586), Wichita, Kansas, USA Apr 5, 2005 The bottle poured a dark reddish brown liquid with an off-white rocky medium head that lasted for a short time and dissipated almost entirely leaving almost no lacing. The aroma is light and fruity. The sweet malt comes through nicely. The taste is delicate and slightly bitter. There are initial notes of coffee and chocolate. The finish is long-lasting and also a bit bitter.
