BrianG (38), Big Stone Gap, Virginia, USA Apr 2, 2005 Poured clear amber. Head was nice and long-lasting. Beer had a hint of a skunky aroma. Had a clean, smooth taste. Good beer. JonR888710 (999), Cochabamba, Bolivia Mar 26, 2005 Thin/clear mahogany, iced-tea like colored body. Head is very large and gorgeous, very light brown and builds with the reverse waterfall look like a guiness. Smell is of light fruit malt, very clean and with nothing else. Taste is a little watery thin gets complex with smoked bacon, blood, dates, raisins and trace metallic flavors. Very interesting and certainly more complex than what I was expecting. Aftertaste is ham and maple syrup. Not bad jackamackson (127), USA Mar 23, 2005 i had this on tap.. dark brown clear pour, with a tinge of red. a small white head. grainy aroma, not much of note. flavor is a slightly sweet crisp malty flavor, with a tiny bit of bitterness. pretty thin mouthfeel. drinkable but unremarkable BoomerSooner (17), Norman, Oklahoma, USA Mar 19, 2005 Good beer as far as taste but didnt have a good long lasting head. Poured a jet black. Tasted a little hint of raisin. SledgeJr (2957), Omaha, Nebraska, USA Mar 19, 2005 In the bottle. Dark, but not too dark. Has a white head, but not too much of a head. Aroma is lager -like, but not too impressive. Flavor is rich toffee-like roasty lager blend, but not too flavorful. I guess my point is that this beer is OK, but just not very memorable. The dunkels vom fass are way way better, but maybe bottled german beers that find their way to Nebraska have a low ceiling and a large age. ecbeerguy (86), East Chicago, Indiana, USA Mar 19, 2005 Pours with a foamy head from the bottle. Very dark in color. No flavors or aromas are recognizable above the grain. A good taste, a bit watery, but better than most macro beers. A decent finish. ericmc83 (200), Arkansas, USA Mar 16, 2005 Updated: Mar 28, 2005Aroma isn’t impressive. I smell grain. Flavor has a decent amount of grain and is a little sweet. A little maltiness. Thin bodied. The overall flavor and aroma reminds me of a pilsner that I had the other day...lots of grassy taste. It’s alright, but I’m not a fan of a grassy taste. Crockett (904), Steelback County, Ontario, Canada Mar 10, 2005 Tap at Ciro. Pours deep clear red mahogony with a short scummy white head. Lightly sweet toasted malty aroma with some apple and chocolate. Sweet. Some smoke. Wheaty, apple and raspberry tartness. Burnt sugar and cider vinegar. Lightly spiced. Finish is bland and watery.
