Snot19kilo (81), Oakwood, Illinois, USA Apr 22, 2009 Updated: Aug 6, 2009Bottle. Pours a copper brown with a light white head. Clean and Earthy aroma. Flavor , well water with a woody lightly roasted and metallic taste. A quick malty and metallic finish. An ok Dunkel but nothing premium about it.
I will come back and re-rate this beer once I have a fresh-ish one. Pretty sure all the ones I drank were skunk(drank them at a small bar in the middle of backwoods IL)
All That on top of the fact the bottles are not dark, there is no way that’s how they really tasted. punkrkr27 (608), Berkley, Michigan, USA Apr 14, 2009 Clear, dark brown pour with a small, off-white head. Smells nutty with toasted caramel, faint banana, and a little vegetal. Flavor is toast, almond, hay, and a slight noble hop spice on the finish. Thin body with lots of carbonation. michael-pollack (2603), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 13, 2009 330ml Bottle: Aroma of malts, nuts, vegetables, and cardboard. Poured copper/brown in color with a small, off-white head that lasted around the edges. Clear. Lightly sparkling. Flavor is slightly sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of malts, vegetables, nuts, dried leaves, and some caramel. Medium body. Average texture. Nutty, malty finish is a bit cloying. iride15 (169), Orlando, Florida, USA Apr 12, 2009 Dark brown pour with a small tan head. Fruit and caramel smell with a hint of toasted malt. Toasted malt and caramel flavor. Really light body making it drinkable. dwaggs2 (532), Lee’s Summit, Missouri, USA Apr 8, 2009 Bottle. Poured a darker brown color with no head at all. Aroma was some fruits and caramel. Flavor was roasted malts and caramel. Very thin and light body. Very drinkable. jaysonl69 (24), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Apr 6, 2009 very dark beer that pours with a weak head. aroma has hints of strong malts. palate tastes a little unbalanced with a rather oily consistency. SamGamgee (1396), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA Apr 2, 2009 Draught at Old Town Tavern for the most random find of the year award. A pleasingly creamy head tops a clear brown body and leaves light lace. The aroma is subtle but has a nice malt and bread touch. The flavor is sweet and has a kiss of hops in the finish. Light bodied with prickly carbonation. Lacks the rich malt flavors of my favorite dunkels, but it is still enjoyable. AndyReynolds (280), Wilder, Kentucky, USA Apr 1, 2009 Pours a dark brown with a nice tan head. Aroma is toasted malts with notes of dark fruit and spice. The flavor is malty and bready, but watered down. This is a great everyday dunkle, but nothing special.
