Smells of some toasted malts, light dark fruit and caramel. Nothing really inspiring here. Maybe some berries and molasses as well. The flavor is light bodied, with limited flavor. Subtle dark fruits and caramel malts was really it. Certainly could have used a little more body, maybe some more banana and fruitflavors to give it something. Very underwhelming. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 22, 2008 This is a very tasty dunkel. Aroma of roasted malt and hint of bitter coffee. Pour was beautiful. Deep dark brown with a puffy 1 finger off white/tan head. Taste was nice and light but with a strong roasted malt flavor. A hint of toffee in the aftertaste that leaves a bitterness after the swallow. Easy to drink and delicious. I may use this as a beer to convert BMC drinkers. Sham (1846), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 13, 2004 Dark brown pour with a smaller head with nice lace. Caramel malts mostly, some roasted as well. Light hops in the nose. The flavor has mostly roasted malts, though the caramel shows through a bit. Slightly hoppy. Palate is watery, body a bit thin, finishing malty. thegreenrooster (1842), St.louis, Missouri, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/20 | Nov 21, 2006 Pour is a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is hard to find. Flavor pretty much the same. Nothing really here and so not a dunkel. Just one of these beers to fill out your make a six pack and not really worth the time. SDbruboy (1832), San Diego, California, USA

Aroma of peat, smoked malts, hops and brown bread. Flavor is rich roasted malts, earth, assertive hops and an astringent finish. Full bodied with an immediate mouthburst of carbonation. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 28, 2003 Decent head that is creamy on top. Nice lacing. Aroma is a little earthy with some roasted malts. Color is a nice dark brown. Flavor is a little bland but refreshing for a dark beer with some more malts. Finish leaves a slight metallic aftertaste but is smooth. An ok dunkel but nothing special. rederic (1815), montréal, Quebec, Canada

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Aug 22, 2004 Ultimately, too sweet of a dunkel, almost sugary. That’s what must be responsible for the slight hangover after only 3 of these last night. Some fair nuttiness in the aroma, and plasing meatiness in the mouth, and carmelized nut flavor, but too much and sticky at the end.
