| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 4, 2005 Draft. Dark brown body, thin white head. Pretty average flavor: dark roasted caramel malt, bit of soapy hops in the ifnish. Medium-thin mouthfeel. Light version of the flavor in the aroma. A perfectly nice beer, just nothing remarkable. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Oct 30, 2003 Draught at Old Chicago. Unsweetened molasses aroma at first whiff. Some sweetness emerges at second whiff. Clear dark reddigh brown in color. Small, off-white head that mostly diminishes. Not much lace. This is a maltfest. Significant alcoholic mouthfeel which is somewhat surprising given only 4.9% ABV. No bitterness whatsoever, although I suppose one shouldn't expect any from a German Dunkel. Not much sweetness making this a bit boring and one-dimensional. jake65 (1725), Williston, North Dakota, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Dec 30, 2008 Bottle: Dark brown with a finger of creamy beige head. Aroma of lager malt and a little grain. Tastes mildly sweet with maltiness. Very light hop character and a faint roasted note. More of a dark lager. Unimpressive. joet (1709), Fulton, California, USA

There are actualyl quite a few places to grab some real brews here though I’ve seen some very old labels and it does it get pretty hot here during the summers -- it’s good to look for signs of good storage if you do find a rarity here. Anyway, this one was black with off white foam, a small perfume nose, a light medium body effervescent body and medium bitter finish with roasty hues. Not bad! ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA
