Tapped a lustrous chestnut color....small off white cap lasts a while then reduced to a surface lace.
Good dose of Dunkel aromas: Sweet bread and cocoa some toastyness, light herbal sharpness.
Medium-light bodied, fair Munich malt spine, buttery mouth feel, smooth rounded character.
Up front you get to chew on some delicious dark Munich malt with its bready-sweet cocoa notes then the herbal spalter hops kick in to balance...mid palate there are some nutty tastes giving a sort of a liquid brownie when the cocoa malts meet the nut tones....medium finish...clean, malty, lightly bittered with herbal tones and a bready aftertaste.
A good solid commercial German dunkel...no surprises...om the light side for a dunkel but very drinkable and pleasing.

Jan 5, 2006 "Medium brown to dark brown color. Medium fluffy head. Has very mild aroma of any kind, hint of malts. A medium/light bodied dunkel. Has a hint of choclate and mild hops flavor. Very nice balance of the 2 Has a creamy mouthfeel, but is a little thiner then i expected. Over all good dunkel."

Jun 26, 2009 Draught at Gustav’s. Dark brown pour with a solid white head. Aroma almost entirely caramel malt with some light nuttiness. Flavor has a bit of roastiness, but mostly just standard malt. Not bad, very sessionable at the very least.

Jul 12, 2005 Pours a clear bubbly brown with a small amount of quickly dissapating white fizzy head. Aroma is sweet malts, a little bit of nuts, and a sweet grass undertone. Flavor is very thin, dry, grassy, and not the sweet malty nutty flavor I had hoped for. This seriously tastes more like a slightly sweet pale lager than a dunkel. Overall, dissapointed.

Nov 17, 2004 Very nice mahogany appetence with lasting head. Flavor is somewhat malty but very thin. No aroma.

Feb 25, 2007 Pours a dark copper color with a tan head. Aroma is of slight roasted malts, and dark fruits. Not a very strong or complex aroma. Flavor is light of dark fruits, with a slight roastiness at the end. There was a little more from the flavor then what I was expecting. It’s an ok brew but nothing great.
