Pours a reddish brown with a 1 finger head that forms extremely quickly and falls almost just as fast. The nose almost is like mild cedar. The taste is too quick though and doesn’t linger at all, leaving barely anything for you to remember it by. Everything leading up to that was promising, but the flavor to me is a let down.

Decent brew... a bit of a caramel in the flav. A drinkable but not very memorable brew.

This beer is commonly available in the US, but I thought it a fairly good example of a dunkel weiss, given a fairly limited amount of experience with the style. Pours a copper-colored body with a good amount of what I’ll call "mainstream beer" head on it, which fades fairly quickly. Aroma is faint, but is slightly sweet and a bit spicy (maybe cinammon?). Taste is caramel malt, a touch of souriness, and a bit of oakiness. In my memory, this is fairly typical for the dunkel style. Mouthfeel is not thin, but is not overpoweringly sticky. I found this beer fairly drinkable, and on those times when I want something very malty (I should add, in the interest of full disclosure, that I’m usually looking for something hoppy), I would not rule this out.

Bottle, poured brown with a quickly diminishing off white head. Taste is malty with little to no hops detected. Nice light bodied easy to drink beer.

Some interesting herbal (tobacco) notes, a fair but sweet malt backbone, but basically boring fare.

Poured from a 330ml bottle and served in a Bell’s dimpled mug. This beer poured a dark brown with some faint ruby highlights. A thick, foamy tan head slowly faded away, leaving a fair amount of lacing. The aroma of the beer was made up of biscuit, toasted caramel, and roasted nuts. The flavor included sweet, toasted malts, nuts, mild caramel, and bread. The mouthfeel was light to medium-bodied with adequate carbonation and quick, clean finish. Not bad, but not all that interesting either.

Pours dark amber with light tan head. Lightly toasted malt aroma and faint hops. Flavor is mostly sweet caramel, toasted malts with mild hop bitternes and a slight metallic finish. Medium body with average carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel.
