The aroma picked up very sweet cocoa and darker bready notes with a light roast to it.. soft, sweet, and simple overall. Flavor had lightly-roasted and very sweet chocolate and caramel at the core with very light woody bitterness and a mild sour kick extending outward (in a good way).. long, sweet finish. Lighter-bodied with a nice flow to it.. good use of dry roast provided a refreshing finish. Not bad at all. Sammy (4057), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Poured dark reddish black (almost opaque) with a small light brown head. Aroma very sweet malt with curious notes of grapes, cereal grains, burnt candy and a tiny harsh metallic tang. Taste is also grapey, with mild roast malt, almost root beer sweet, a bit sour on the finish - a bit of dry staw flavour on warming. Mouthfeel is thin and a bit flat and minerally. Keep it cold and it’s decent, but nothing to get excited about - it’s just a dunkel, after all ... Radek Kliber (3986), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 1, 2003 Mahogany, antique look that was nicely contrasting to superb head. Not to strong soft aroma of medium roasted malts, some sweet flowers were noticed as well. Taste - this beer was fairly light, a bit creamy, and overall very pleasant. It great to drink this kind of brew on any occasion because of its simplicity. Simple but great. This beer proves that one beer does not need to be overly complex to be great! beerguy101 (3971), Newark, California, USA

It had a malty aroma as well as an initially bitter taste that lingered around for a while. Its lacing was good, but overall not one of the better Dunkels. Pass.
