| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 16, 2002 Updated: Oct 6, 2003Rerate 10/06/03: Tried the draught version, and I'm not sure what I was talking about earlier. Light flavor, light body? Who knows. Dark reddish-brown with a thin beige head. The aroma is lightly nutty. It is light-bodied for a Dunkel, with notes of coffee and nuts. The finish is crisp which makes this a decent session beer overall. However it lacks any real character or complexity. 02/16/02 (3.4): Deceptively smooth-textured considering how dark it is. Since it is so light I would definitely choose over the Premium Verum. If it is going to be light it might as well taste good, and this one does. The aroma stood out a little more than the flavor, which I found to be very straight-forward. DougShoemaker (2856), Toronto, Canada

Mild treacle flavour, with the expected sweetness. Light bodied for a Dunkel, but tasty. Thanks Radek. beerinmarch (2829), Washington, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 6, 2005 On tap at Gustav’s restaurant. Pours a dark mahogany with a tall white head, very stable. Clean sweet malt aroma, hints of caramel and light chocolate, layers of grain. Finish had a light touch of hops, left it trailing a bit sweet. Over all not a bad dunkel, but not one of my favorites. austinpowers (2828), New York, New York, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 15, 2002 watery and rather thin. It has more flavor than a regular lager, though. Middle of the pack. riversideAK (2803), Shoreline, Washington, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 30, 2007 On draft. Nice dark brown colored beer with no head. Aroma of sweet chocolatey malt and a little roastiness. Mostly sweet and malty with a touch of roast. It has the slightest crisp finish. I liked this one alot. | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jun 27, 2006 Dark brown with nutty chocolate aromas that are not backed up by as much flavour as you’d expect. Pretty thin malt character, and thin in the mouth overall actually. Definitely not my favourite dunkel. Aubrey (2782), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 5, 2003 Dark brown and clear. Not the strongest head. A little watery at first, but carbonation and texture seemed to improve as I drank. Interesting aroma. Nice and roasty with sweet black licorice notes. Surprisingly refreshing and clean and rather easy to drink.
