Sweet and nutty, a very clean drink - doesn’t get too clingy with either the sweetness or the yucky lager aftertaste. Distinct cocoa. Hard to find a mass-market dark German brew in a brown bottle. Mouthfeel was substantial, but didn’t become weighty after 3 or 4. Nothing earth-shaking, but this is a good value at $7/6 in the local grocery store.

Clear deep brown body with a small light brown head. Sweet dark malt and molassas aroma. Sweet dark malt flavor with some molassas and caramel.

Very lagery, munich type aroma, with a touch of roast. Flavor is thin lager yeast, veggies, pumpkin.

On Tap, Ciro’s. Dark brown pour, slick little tan head. Mild cola like sweet malt aroma. Thin mouthfeel. Taste is slightly sweet malt, but very thin and watery. Drinkable, but pretty average stuff without a lot of character.

Had it on tap, pours dark brown with a light brown, creamy head. Some hints of sweet hops, light for a German Dunkel.

[1569-20080803] 500mL can. Tar-like dark malt aroma. Clear, dark dark brown body with quick bubbles. Mild malty grains flavour. Medium-full body. Drinkable and mildly boring.

Bottle: Nutty caramel aroma. Pours a dark brown with red hilights when held to the light. White head that lasts a minute or so. Sweet caramel from start to finish, but increases slightly in the finish. Toffee becomes noticeable in the finish along with some light hops. There are some light Euro-lager flavors lingering in the background that I could do without.

12 oz. bottle purchased at Total Wine in Kennesaw, Georgia. Best Before: Jan 23 09. Appearance: Pours a clear, dark brown body with a thin, fizzy, but still slightly creamy off-white head. Smell: Pale malts in the nose with supporting notes of spicy hops, stale nuts, and a very light vinous fruitiness. Taste: Pale maltiness with light tastes of nutty molasses and honey. Very minor hints of apple and cherry fruitiness. Faint spicy hops and bitterness. A touch sour at times. Finishes relatively crisp. Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation, though it’s a bit fizzy. Drinkability: Never immensely flavorful or exciting, but it is quite drinkable, I’ll give it that much.
