this is quite an acceptable brew indeed. it has a decently sweet toffee taste. it has acceptable body and is refreshing. the carbonation is good - foamy yet bubbly. the beer has a rye/barley quality that is simple honest and also carries a fruit type essence. the finish is is slightly bitter and flavorful (though a bit watery). extra point for being simple yet good! this beer is quite a looker deep brown with orange and red highlights.

Draught at Tyler’s in Durham, NC. Clear brown color with thin off white head. Metallic hop nose with molasses and chocolate undertones. Malty caramel flavor. Slightly sweet with a nice brown sugary cereal aftertaste.

Pours mahogany into a shaker. Coca cola head. Dark caramel aromas. Dry and crisp from front to back. Not much in the flavor department but not obtrusive.

Mug at Old Chicago had no head, but this probably shouldn’t be held against the beer. Nice clear brown color. Toasted malt taste that gives way to molasses and coffee finish. Sweet thick palate.

Great beer. A nice dark beer with a good mouthful. Creamy and smells of roasted malts. Very rich and a solid brew. Decent finish, though maybe a little watery for the style.

Deep brown/amber, clean dry malt flavor, medium body, robust hop presence. Roasted biscuit flavor on a dry malt background. A nice beer.

Bottle. Poured a dark brown and amber color with frothy off-white head that quickly dissiplates. Tastes of roasted malts, coffee, and a sweet herbalness that cleanses the palate. Great beer.
