Nose is malt, the start malt sweet, the top is light, the finish is lightly hopped, dry, acidic, moderately carbonated, a good beer, but a bit ’Lite’ for me. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 12, 2003 Dark caramel color with a creamy head formation and a malty aroma. The taste is slightly nutty, with hints of caramel, a touch of chocolate, and fresh malts. Nicely balanced finish with a subtle touch of hops.

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 23, 2002 Quite malty with a unusually dry finish compared with the becks dunkel version which happens to be quite sweet. Less hoppy than the becks dark, yet more robust with a more pronounced roasted malt flavor... nice, light body as well. Of all the grocery store dark brands, this is highly recommended. beastdog75 (337), Brick, New Jersey, USA

Roasted notes are very light in this beer, and altogether simply tastes like the Warsteiner Premium Verum. Low bitterness in the finish. Easy to drink, but a bit watery. aobecksy (661), Middle of no where, Ohio, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Dec 1, 2002 A nice darker beer...it’s a serious lager, and it’s got a nice afteraste to it. Not much of a head on it, but good consistency. Dorwart (1815), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 28, 2003 Decent head that is creamy on top. Nice lacing. Aroma is a little earthy with some roasted malts. Color is a nice dark brown. Flavor is a little bland but refreshing for a dark beer with some more malts. Finish leaves a slight metallic aftertaste but is smooth. An ok dunkel but nothing special. Sham (1846), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 13, 2004 Dark brown pour with a smaller head with nice lace. Caramel malts mostly, some roasted as well. Light hops in the nose. The flavor has mostly roasted malts, though the caramel shows through a bit. Slightly hoppy. Palate is watery, body a bit thin, finishing malty.
