AsaNewt (113), blackpool, Lancashire, England Sep 6, 2008 Updated: Nov 1, 2008Ok I admit it, i have a soft spot for War Starter on draught! especially when served in the correct glass. Drank at ’’’’The Grape Vine’’’’ in Poulton Le Fylde.
This is a pale golden colour with persistent head and bubbles. nose is floral with a hint of citrus. flavour is reassuringly sharp with a nice hoppy presence and of course the trademark Corn flavour of this style of brew. Cold and refreshing as a good lager should be. In short, wonderful! thornecb (1736), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA Sep 5, 2008 Pours gold into a shaker. Head immediately dissipates to nothing. No aromas. Crisp and sour/sweet honey upfront with a quick hop finish. JuStuka (187), Edo De Mex, Mexico Sep 1, 2008 Golden yellow color, aroma is wheaty grassy, tastes a little bit sweet and mildly bitter tgncc (796), Bellmore, New York, USA Aug 31, 2008 Decent pilsener. From my hotel in Orlando. Appearance is unremarkable, straw yellow with white head. The aroma is of malts, and erthy, grassy hops. The flavor is malty sweet, some hops make themselves known, and the carbonation is lively. The finish has a nice hop signature, and the beer finishes clean. Good for the style. scooterbub (332), Lander, Wyoming, USA Aug 30, 2008 Bottle. Pours a golden yellow with a thin white head that slowly fades away. Taste is of malt, hop honey, kind of sweet and bitter in the finish. Has a good mouthfeel to it. Aroma matches the taste. I like this beer, it is satisfying, easy to drink and moderately priced for an import. ScoWRee (275), Phila, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 29, 2008 Pours a pale golden color with a huge white foamy head. Aroma is wheaty grassy. Taste is slightly bitter a little watery. A hint of hops.
Not much here. Slayer85 (582), Firenze, Italy Aug 25, 2008 Canned. A clear pale yellow beer with a very small (almost nothing) and disappearing white head. Not a great appearence. The aroma has light cerals, some malt and a decent grassy hoppiness. The flavour is quite weak and with a metallic note. Quite mild with the hops for a Pilsner. Light to medium body, lively carbonation, dry not much long finish with almost medium bitterness. A bit watery, but overall not awful. CaptBier (301), Birmingham, Alabama, USA Aug 23, 2008 Bottle. Yellow with a nice white head. Aroma and taste are both pretty sweet. Just an average pils.
