geographylists (26), San Diego, California, USA Feb 5, 2007 Bottle. A very average Pilsener--and one of the better easy-to-find beers in Argentina, where I drank it. Warsteiner is heavily marketed to the "Cone Countries" of South America (possibly because of the German heritage of some of the people there). kenb (1100), Oregon, USA Feb 2, 2007 12 oz bottle via LS. Pours clear yellow/gold with a small head that dissipates in the blink of an eye. Nice fruity yeasty aroma with some wheat notes although i do not believe this is a wheat beer. Taste is very malt driven driven, with excessive carbonation that makes it hard to discern any flavors. Grainy aftertaste. Wish they would NOT make a beer that is so prickly i feel like i am drinking a very carbonated soda..what’s the point? Am i suppsoed to let it sit in the glass for 2 hours and then drink it just so i can taste something under the fizz?! UnsofistaCat (222), Garden City, Michigan, USA Jan 30, 2007 Yeah.....I don’t care if it comes from Germany or not, I know macro swill when I taste it. Corn flavor and very thin. Tastes almost like a cream ale. To be fair, I don’t get into Pilsner much. Kind of like Kolsch, I just don’t have the nuanced taste buds to pick anything up other then whole bunch of something boring. That being said, it is cold beer and I do have the day off of work.... CliffInTexas (6), College Station, Texas, USA does not count Jan 26, 2007 Bottle. I liked this German Pilsener. Decent color and aroma. Not the best to come out of Warsteiner, but a good beer. sudsmeister (40), Colorado, USA Jan 22, 2007 Prior to the American microbrew revolution, I would have given this beer a higher score. The grading curve has shifted quite a bit. However, I still like a good German mainstream brew, and this is one of them. Tasty, steady and definitely a product of the good ol’ Reinheitsgebot. Recommended. daniel0017 (232), Ontario, Canada Jan 20, 2007 Corn, vegetables and grass in the aroma. Thick, quickly dissipating bubbly head of one finger on a light golden body. Flavor is astringent with metallic notes. Watery and boring mouthfeel. Canned, discount import without any virtues other than being an import. zachh (19), USA Jan 17, 2007 They sell these in my area in 5 liter mini kegs, so we decided to pick one up. It was my first German Pilsener, and I enjoyed it very much. Not much head but the head that is there lingers for quite a while. Grassy aroma and an interesting taste. As others have said, almost biscuit.
Overall, it’s not a bad buy, especially since it comes in a mini keg. rayg1 (432), Ft. Mill, South Carolina, USA Jan 15, 2007 Tried this and liked this, I agree this is a standard German pils but I liked it alot. Crisp and clean with a decent hop profile. Smells fairly decent without skunk too. Nothing outstanding but a good little session beer. I would have this beer again.
