The aroma is sweet and acidic with strong notes of star anise, while the flavor is very acidic and again with strong notes of star anise, leading to a dry spicy finish. larsga (2992), Oslo, Norway
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Sep 21, 2008 Small offwhite head does not last. Hazy deep reddish amber body. Yeasty fruity aroma with citric notes. Sweet-acidic vinegary fruity taste. This is infected. No point going into the details, but I have to say I’m disappointed to be offered an infected beer when I ask for a recommendation. | 1.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Jul 11, 2008 Bottle: Chestnut-amber coloured, bigger, quite stable off-white head; vinegar, sweet dark malt and the sweet smell of a heep in the nose; sweetish-sourish flavour, light bodied; malt and vinegar in the finish. Almost disgusting........ oh6gdx (9104), Vasa, Finland
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jun 18, 2008 Bottled. Hazy amber colour with mediumsized head. Aroma is cloves, zest and yeast. Flavour is the same along with some really strange sweetness, probably infected bottle here too. MoritzF (5065), Bochum, Germany
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Jun 17, 2008 (bottle, courtesy of Papsoe) Hazy, dark amber colour with a big but non-persistent light-beige foamy head. Dusty, sweet toasty malty nose with subtle fruity notes and anise, accompanied by a barnyardy stench. Sourish, infected flavour, medium bodied with a lively carbonation. Sourish fruity taste that covers almost all the malty flavour; sourish, berry fruity like finish. The negative highlight of an evening of infected brews. | 1.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Apr 26, 2008 Bottle. It pours an unclear, brown body with a decent but diminishing beige head. The aroma has a very disturbing sourness, sure this one must be infected, as well as dried fruits and some dusty notes. Really lemon-sour in the mouth, rather thin-bodied, with a little sweetish touch and some roasted notes. Lasting, sour finish. Well, I like my Christmas beers on the sweet side, and not on the extreme sour side like this one. On the other hand, I don’t think it was intended to make an infected brew. Scheisse! (080426)
