| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 15, 2008 Bottle from Sun Devil in Mesa, AZ. Pours cola color with a tan head. Has that brown roasted malt aroma. Near medium body with frothy carbonation. First hit is coarse chocolate. Chocolate really dominates this one. Malt is hardly noticeable until the finish. There’s some hop spice too. You could sell this as a Xmas ale. ratman197 (3254), Arvada, Colorado, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 5, 2006 Bottle poured a clear reddish brown with a small diminishing amber head. Aromas of toasted malt, carmel and nuts. Palate was light bodied and smooth. Flavors of toasted malt, carmel and a hint of chocolate with a smooth finish. michael-pollack (2726), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 1.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 1/5 | 5/20 | Mar 7, 2004 Like many of their beers, this is not well balanced. The malts overpower the hops, and leave you with a strange, choclate-hop taste. Little aroma. Decent mid-brown color. Could not even finish my sample. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 11, 2008 07-Aug-08 (12-oz bottle: Free sample bottle for stewarding the 2008 World Beer Cup in San Diego, CA) Aromas of sweet chocolate, nuts, and lightly roasty malts greet the nose. Not very complex, but definitely aromatic and enticing. An entry of moderately sweet chocolate up front, and roasty malts toward the finish. Pretty nice flavor, but the chocolate and roastiness fade in the finish and are supplanted by moderate metallic and apple skin flavors and astringency late in the finish. The medium body is heavier than expected for a 4% brown ale. Medium carbonation is soft on the palate. Crystal clear auburn in color with a dense, creamy, light-tan head. Retention is solid, holding a quarter-inch layer for the entire session. Lacing consists of a ring at the top and spotty patches cascading down from the ring. Somewhat mediocre for the style, but taking into account the alcohol restrictions of Utah, this is all right. Bockyhorsey (2552), Mesa, Arizona, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | May 24, 2008 Bottle. Aroma of barley grains and some some caramel covered nut aroma you would get from a can put out at Christmas time on the feeding trough. Amber body with off white head. Flavor was a bit watered down with grains and bitter with some sweet malts. Thicker body with the creamy texture most of good Brown Ale’s have this may of been a good one. Blah for me.
