Commercial Description:
This dark, medium bodied ale offers the drink-ability of a much lighter beer. The inviting chocolate and malty flavors fade into a slightly dry, silky smooth finish. Why have just one? 4.0% alcohol by volume. • 2008 Silver Medal Winner, Brown Porter, North American Brewers’ Association • 2008 Silver Medal Winner, Brown Porter, World Beer Cup • 2006 Silver Medal Winner, Brown Porter, North American Brewers’ Association

Bottle from Tops Liquors in Phoenix, poured a standard brown color with a bit of a flatness to it that wasn’t impressive. The aroma was coffee, some astringency or off notes. The flavor followed suit, astringency, acidic, cocoa-choco notes, slightly bitter and astringenty coffee flavors too. The mouthfeel was a little still, less than invigorating. A weak example of the style, but the name was appreciated for its good humor.

Tap. Pours very dark wiht very little head. It is dominated ny roasted malt flavors, fairly light but actually quite pleasant. A session porter, maybe closer in style to a black lager.

Draft. Dark chocolate with medium-sized, creamy tan head that lasts. Aroma is mild smoke, metallic hop and a bit of banana! Nice. Taste is smooth and a bit smoky-chocolate, but not much. Palate is watery, and light-medium. The body, along with the 4%, makes it a pretty drinkable brew, but it is kind of bland and not really one I would have two of when there are other micros available.

Brown coloured body with a very light tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and very little else. Light to Medium-bodied; Sweet flavours up front with some malted tastes all with a lingering metallic flavour throughout. Aftertaste shows more of the unsatisfactory flavours, too much sweetness and an overpowering cardboard flavour. Overall, not such a great beer, obviously. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle brought back for me from my Uncle from Salt Lake City, UT on 21-April-2007 at the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

Bottle courtesy after4ever. Thanks! Pours a clear dark brown with a thin tan head. Soft chocolate aroma. Light body and medium carbonation. Sort of a hollow taste that fades into nothing. Great name, though.
