Commercial Description:
This dark, medium bodied ale offers the drink-ability of a much lighter beer. The inviting chocolate and malty flavors fade into a slightly dry, silky smooth finish. Why have just one? 4.0% alcohol by volume. • 2008 Silver Medal Winner, Brown Porter, North American Brewers’ Association • 2008 Silver Medal Winner, Brown Porter, World Beer Cup • 2006 Silver Medal Winner, Brown Porter, North American Brewers’ Association

Bottle at GBBF, August 2005. My first beer from Utah. Comedy name and label. Otherwise, I thought this was OK. Deep tawny brown colour. A bit of cocoa powder and some bitterness on the finish. Not a lot of body or depth of flavour - short of guts but pleasant enough.

Bottle. Black with a small beige head. Aromas are light and earthy with dry roast malts. Flavours are earthy roast malts with some sweet chocolate and hints of licourice. Has a soda water character, too light and too thin.

Bottle. Black frothy beer with a weak and very sweet aroma and a mild, sweet and only lightly roasted flavour. Overall a poor beer.

Pours dark brown with a quite decent beige head. Cellary, slight liquoricy, almondy nose with some hints of juniper and roasted malt. Flavour from brown sugar, cold coffee and cocoa. Somewhat thin and watery. Caramelly finish.

A great porter with a creamy head and a nice overall flavor. I liked the complexity between the malt and the roasted barley. A great beer while waiting for the chair lifts in Park City.

Bottle. Filtered and gassed. Beneath the fizz there is a half decent dark Mild, but the old and stale flavours ruin the beer. Completing Just One is more than enough for me. *1/2

Sweet cocoa-chocolate in the lightly roasty and fruity aroma. Clear ruby-brown with low tan head that diminishes to ring. Biscuity and roasted malts with leafy hops, chocolate and fair finishing bitterness. Flavour is quite light. Medium body is somewhat sticky with low carbonation. Bottle sampled at GBBF 2005.

Cellared for 1-2 years: Pours a transparent dark copper with a nicely lacing tan head. Aroma has a touch of caramel and butterscotch and cookie dough. Starts semi-sweet, kinda thin and dry, lightly bready and earthy with nice malty presence and a touch of hoppy bitterness in the finish. Could be thicker, but otherwise ok.
