Commercial Description:
This dark, medium bodied ale offers the drink-ability of a much lighter beer. The inviting chocolate and malty flavors fade into a slightly dry, silky smooth finish. Why have just one? 4.0% alcohol by volume. • 2008 Silver Medal Winner, Brown Porter, North American Brewers’ Association • 2008 Silver Medal Winner, Brown Porter, World Beer Cup • 2006 Silver Medal Winner, Brown Porter, North American Brewers’ Association

A red- brown beer with a small disappearing brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of prunes, while the flavor is sour malty with notes of prunes. The body is thin.

Dark brown, bit of red. No lacing or stickiness on the glass, just looks thin. Thin as expected, no real body or heft, rather oily. Tastes like a mix of molasses and burnt wood. Good thin they have a marketing schtick, because nobody’s buying this one for the beer.

Pours dark. Head is creamy and quickly dissipates. Complex burnt smells almost of ash. Mild hop flavoring finishing dry.

One of my favorite dark beers. This one goes down pretty easy. Great flavor, very dark appearance (not that I care).

Thanks to Buck Dich for this. Pours deep ruby with medium splotchy white head. Aroma of malt, cabernet, nuts, some chocolate. Tastes malty, with some krieky fruitiness, cabernet, and toffee/caramel at the finish. Smooth, but somewhat watery palate.

Pours mahogony, with ample head that sticks well down the glass. Sour, Burnt chocolate smell. Very smooth. I expected it to be sweeter, but it’s not. It’s dry & crisp. Mild cocoa flavor with a litlle Hop bitterness. Typical of black malt. Finishes dry, & clean. Stupid name. Utah kicked out all their polygamists. Sent them all to Colorado and Arizona.
