Commercial Description:
This dark, medium bodied ale offers the drink-ability of a much lighter beer. The inviting chocolate and malty flavors fade into a slightly dry, silky smooth finish. Why have just one? 4.0% alcohol by volume. • 2008 Silver Medal Winner, Brown Porter, North American Brewers’ Association • 2008 Silver Medal Winner, Brown Porter, World Beer Cup • 2006 Silver Medal Winner, Brown Porter, North American Brewers’ Association

Smells and looks like Coca-Cola Blak. Tastes like a 50/50 mix of that and water. Blearg.

12oz, from my girlfriend’s dad who went to the brewery. Pours reddish brown with a tan head. Nose is sweet and slightly malty. Taste is very thin and fairly gross, great name though.

12oz bottle, no date from Sparky27--thanks Eric! Clear deep brown with a 1/2 finger tan head, fading to a ring and tattered film. Aroma of sweet scorched caramel, light roast, a little salty soy, and a tinge of raisins and peanuts--sounds kinda complex, but a few of those aforementioneds are kinda the same. Eh. Flavor is roastier and a little more burnt than the aroma leads on, and there’s a little bit of malted milk balls with the soy. Semi-dry burnt finish, bitterness peaked at a 3. Light sharp carbonation with a light body. Decent.

A dark brown/cola color pour with a very thin tan head and no apparent lacing. Aroma of light roast, a touch of caramel, and a bit of coffee. Flavor of chocolate and roast that finishes with some very mild earthy notes. Palate is thin and somewhat on the watery side. Cool label, fun to try but nothing I would consider as special

12oz bottle acquired in trade with douglas88 (thanks!). Poured a medium to deeper brown color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of roast, earthy, and some chocolate. The roastiness dominates the aromas. Tastes of roast, chocolate, and coffee. The flavors were really thin and watery. Body thin and watery too. Light lacing left on the glass.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark brown with a one finger tan head. Nose is light roasted malt and mild cocoa. Taste is earthy hops, nuts, roasted malt and light chocolate. Light-to-medium mouth feel. Not stellar, but not bad for a session porter.

dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma is of toffee, caramel, some nuttiness and chocolate. Taste is of roasted malts and is weak. Body is a little too thin.

12 oz bottle from blindeyedbetty - thanks! Clear dark brown with a thin beige head. Rather sweet nose, lots of sweet, roasty malt, toffee, coffee and chocolate. Flavor is a bit of a letdown, lots of dark roasted malt and something like cola. Thin to boot. A strange beer, and not in a good way. The label asks "Why Have Just One?" Well, if I have one bad wife, I’m damn sure not getting another. This beer smacks of divorce...
