Commercial Description:
A complex balance of floral hop flavor, gentle toasty and caramel flavors, and a fine malty sweetness tempered by a distinct bitterness.

Tap at brewery in Park City (early fall): Brown hue. Coffee-like nose. Light body. Malt accented. Nice flavors of toffee and toast. Balanced hops, albeit weak. Slight burntness blended well with the mild bitterness. Decent session beer.

On tap in Park City. Was unsure of the style of this one. Poured an orange/amber color with a tan head. Nice looking. Aroma of earth, caramel, wood/citrus/earth. Flavor was solid, but a bit unrefined. Earthy and caramel mostly. Good for the style.

On tap @ Wasatch Brewpub Park City. Pours up clear amber with tan head. The aroma is a bit perfumy with a flower pedal note as the spicy to citrus hops build and take over. The taste is tart and bitter spice to citrus hops with no body or malty chewiness behind for balance. It tastes like thin hop tea with just a hint of medium roasted malts and biscuit deep in the background hiding under a bush. A little disappointing considering the title and my expectations of what a superior ale would (should) taste like. Just too darn thin.

Poured a dark copper color with a foamy off-white head. The nose is of citrus hops and biscut. The taste startes with a quick, sharp, citrus rind bite. Then opens up with a huge grain dryness. Not much malt sweetness is noticable. The finnish is dry and slightly toasty. Lack of malt balance makes this pale a little too dry.

On tap at the brewpub in Park City. Pours a light brown body with a thick and creamy off-white head. The aroma is fairly light; some nutty and lightly toasted malts. The flavor was a nice combo of malts, some light hops, and a dose of caramel. There is a sort of up front bitter and sweet finish complexity. Not bad at all.

On tap @ Wasatch poured a clear brown with a lasting amber head. Aromas of carmel, earthiness and light citrus. Palate was light bodied crisp and dry. Flavors of earthiness, carmel and a hint of grapefruit rind with a crisp lingering bitter finish.

A middle not that strong beer. Should be around 4%. Nothing special so just a moderate score

The beer had kind of a coldness to it. Even when warm, it felt like it was brewed in an ice cave, and with Park City being in the 30s and 20s when I had this, it was not surprising. The beer had nothing going on that was outstanding at all, but there was something in the aftertaste that I could not identify that I found very redeeming.
