Commercial Description:
This German-Style lager is a big beer. A very big very big beer. We think it will earn some "Big Love" from the folks in the Land of Zion. We predict once this beer is discovered "Utah will never be the same". We ask, as with all our products, you enjoy this brew with care and caution.

Thanks to Douglas88 for this bottle. Beautiful clear ruby color with a good beige head. Aroma of roasted caramel with a touch/hint of smoke. Full body with near creamy carbonation. Flavor is sweet roast caramel, but there are notes of coffee and smoke. And hints of fruit. Finish is moderately sweet, and there’s not much hop bitter. But the whole thing is a feast for the mouth.

Bottle at Park City location. Color was a reddish auburn. Nice looking. Aroma of fruit, bread, caramel and apples. Flavor was sweet and fruity; yeast, bread and caramel. A solid body. I wish they could brew higher alcohol beers all the time.

Thanks to Douglas88. 12oz twist-off bottle. "Utah will never be the same". Aroma of toasted malts. Nice caramel. Flavor is a deep creamy, malt complexity. Lighter in bodied than most Doppelbocks. Very bold, sweet, creamy texture. Nice.

2009 Bottle - Thankss douglas88! - Pours a deep orange with a small white head...aroma is bready malt, spice, roast and brown sugar...coats the mouth like syrup, dark roasted malt, tart oak, pit fruit and a shit ton of alcohol...who let them get away with this?

I think this beer is an homage to the Optimator, It’s good but not quite as tasty as the original. Good dark flavors of roast and chocolate nice texture perhaps a little crisper than the Spaten , but overall a nice beer.

Pours dark amber to near brown with generous tan head. Nose is somewhat faint, malty. On the palate this dopplebock comes across as a "dopplebock light". Unlike most Utah beers, this one is not within the 3.2% limit, but they seemed to have matched the lack of flavor profile that is so common in Utah beers. Malt is lighter, faint caramel, some berry syrup flavors, maple, and a short finish. Body is surprisingly light. Not a good example of this style.

4/18/09 From the bottle. Aroma is very rich, with heavy roast, dark fruit, and lots of molasses. Appearance is dark reddish copper with a medium maintained cream colored head and lingering legs. Flavor is Less complex, with roast malt dominatning with the slightest bit of sour astringency. bittering is low and blends with the roast notes. Alcohol are nearly absent besides a slight fruitiness. Mouthfeel is medium-full bodied with a medium-high carb feel. Overall, I was expecting a touch more flavor judging from the aroma, but still liked the large brew, need more like it from Utah.
