Dark ruby/crimson brew, with a thin head with little clumpy islands in the center of my glass.
Dark caramel malts well balanced out by a firm alcoholic nose.
Carbonation is vivid and prickly, taste is quite similar to the smell, with the caramel just enough in the forefront to subdue the alcohol heat, which in turn brings all the flavors together. After drinking that many low ABV Beers, the mouthfeel on this one was quite powerful and I enjoyed it a lot. LinusStick (1846), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma was sweet dark malt, caramel and a hint of roastiness. Pour was a nice hazy medium brown with amber hues and a one finger off white head. Taste was a little stale but pretty good. Sweet and caramel malt, molasses and roasted toffee with a dry aftertaste. Hides the alcohol wonderfully. fishingnet (1045), Brandon, Florida, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 4, 2008 12oz bottle pours a stunning clear amber with thin tan head. The aroma is big and nutty with some roasty to biscuit malts joining in for good measure. The taste is much the same with a nutty almond – filbert – hazel nut nuttiness that is rich and goes deep into the experience. Behind that I get medium roasted malts and some biscuit. I find that the malty nutty sweetness builds up beyond a level I find comfortable with. Just becomes overly too sweet for me. Aubrey (2777), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 26, 2008 Clear and deep copper. Creamy beige head. Sweet, nutty-toasty nose. Medium body; prickly carbonation up front; finished soft. Malts had notes of sweet nuts, dark caramel, toffee and burnt toast. Plant-like bitterness was balancing. Lesser notes of earth, peat and smoked wood. Decent beer. iowaherkeye (1860), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 16, 2008 12oz bottle, no date from Zac (hellomynameis), thanks! Poured aggressively--clear auburn with a 2 1/2 finger off-white head that did last. Lots of toasted grains up front with light caramel and earth next. Maybe a bit of honey, but that’s about it. The flavor had too much caramel sweetness dominating most everything with some everpresent alcohol. The spicy alcohol dried the finish out as well, with bitterness peaking at a 2 out of 10. Medium body with low carbonation. Meh, not a so good.
