Commercial Description:
This German-Style lager is a big beer. A very big very big beer. We think it will earn some "Big Love" from the folks in the Land of Zion. We predict once this beer is discovered "Utah will never be the same". We ask, as with all our products, you enjoy this brew with care and caution.

Well, I thought this was a pretty decent beer, after the very first sip, which is a bit too alcoholic. Then a nice coaty roastiness comes in. Solid.

I was delighted to find this at one of the franchise liquor stores in a small town in the middle of Utah. To my palate, nice balance, slight sweetness, reasonable hop, good mouth feel. I don’t think this rating is based solely on finding civilization in an unexpected place.

Bottle at Squatter’s in SLC airport. Nice pour. Mahogany brown with a tight head. The aroma is full of rich malt. Indeed this drinks with a full-up caramel kick, strong and rich, particularly for a Utah brew. Good! (#3623, 8/31/2009)

This is the new Wasatch beer. It has replaced the Wasatch Pale Ale, I am a little bummed about that, but... Pours a super clean/clear dark golden brownish color, nice carbonation, small fizzy off-white head, very minimal sticky lacing. The nose is very malty, slight vanilla/sweetness, some spices, and lots of caramel. The taste is malty, slightly sweet at first sip, spicy, and lots of caramel. The alcohol is hidden very very well, just a slight warming effect. Medium body. Drinkable, this is a pretty tasty brew, it’s no where near a Celebrator, but it is nice, very drinkable. Also, I would consider this brew, more of an hyped-up amber ale.

A cold temp pour produces a caramel amber color with very little head and lace. Strong malty sweet aromas of carameled busicuits. Full nectar with ample soft residual effer. A big malty sweet nectar devoures my taste buds with it’s palate driven intensity. Cherry, peachy stone fruit, molasses, mildly stewed nut shells, and French toast. The finish is bittered with a bit of acidity with a lingering sweetness yet not cloying.

Sampled a bottle at the Bayou in SLC.

Dark ruby/crimson brew, with a thin head with little clumpy islands in the center of my glass.
Dark caramel malts well balanced out by a firm alcoholic nose.
Carbonation is vivid and prickly, taste is quite similar to the smell, with the caramel just enough in the forefront to subdue the alcohol heat, which in turn brings all the flavors together. After drinking that many low ABV Beers, the mouthfeel on this one was quite powerful and I enjoyed it a lot.

Another American doppelbock, thats two night in a row, however this one is very different. I got to thank douglas88 for this. Pours with a small quickly fading head that leaves no trace of any lacing whatsoever. The color is an illuminating brown, clear but dark enough that one cannot see through it. The aroma has this small aspect that I love a lot, its burnt, dry, pancetta and I dig it a lot. After that there are nutty and earthy aspects. Taste has a nicely attenuated, easy drinking, caramel sweetness with bark and other earthy highlights. Its very well done, very authentic. I love the well lagered feel and flavor without any of the off-putting aspects, you go Utah (this may be the best Utah beer I have ever had). Not so often I can say it so easy to down this doppelbock.
12oz bottle, no date, St Paul tulip/snifter glass.
