May 3, 2009 12oz bottle–pours a rich light tan head that laces and deep red color. Aroma is sweet toffee-medium malt, some pine hops, dark fruit. Taste is toffee-medium malt, secondary bitter herbal/pine hops. Thanks to Wasatch for trade with Joe-jwc215 and me.

Feb 7, 2009 Bottle courtesy of douglas88. Pours brown with a thin white head. Smells of caramel, earthy, pepper. Tastes sweet and spicy with a light earthy finish.

Jun 1, 2009 Bottle gratefully received from Douglas88. Pours dark ruby amber with a significant beige/tan head. Strong malt aroma - not so much sweet as strong. Some supporting notes of chocolate and resin. Medium plus body with smooth, creamy carbonation. Flavor is malt, touch of chocolate, and a lot of hop, maybe mostly floral. Finish goes down to something like bitter chocolate. Seems well balanced. Very flavorful. It’s really nice to drink.

Jan 13, 2009 Poured Poured a crystal clear deep copper color with an off-white head. Fruity and nutty malt with a citrus hop aroma. Malty flavor with toasty notes. Hoppy grapefruit finish and a long dry hop bitterness. Light-medium bodied. Very clean. Nice beer.

Oct 24, 2009 Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a tan head and a brown body. Aroma of raisins, chamomile tea and honey. Must have been a old bottle as there were not a large amount of hops...at all. Taste was sweet with caramel and a bit tea like. Medium bubbles.

Jun 24, 2009 Courtesy of douglas88. Pours a striking amber with thin tan head. The aroma is musty with fruit and malts creating a pleasing sensation with the aid of a touch of molasses, spice and pine hop bitterness off in the background. I was expecting the taste to be as thick and rich as the nose but it starts thin and then moves into musty smushed up fruity goodness and modest pine hoppiness. Very nice. Seems almost barleywine like, which I like.

Jun 6, 2009 Bottle from Douglas88.Thanks! Tons of caramel malt, toffee, and darker fruits in the aroma. A touch of earthy hops. Pours auburn with a frothy head and some good lace. Mostly full of caramel malt presence, there is also some toffee, light earthy notes, and some fruity sweetness. Malt centric up front, there are some floral, earthy, piney hop resins that dry out the finish and add nice balance to an otherwise straight up malty brew. These hippies on Whale Wars are a bunch of weiners.
