oteyj (713), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA Mar 27, 2009 11/19/08. 8.1%. Pours a very dark reddish brown with minimal head and almost no carbonation. Aroma is dominated by roasty malt, though citrus and pine poke through there as well. Flavor is almost porter-like... very smooth and sweet roast with a nice resinous hop background. Palate is rich and smooth- velvet with a dryish finish. Not at all in line with the style, but delicious just the same. Very little carbonation. Dark reddish brown color with wisps of bubbles scattered across the surface. Good amount of hops still in the nose with caramel filling it out. Flavor is a mellowed hoppiness swathed in simple caramel. Pretty flat. Meh.
