MIBRomeo (1962), Wisconsin, USA Aug 7, 2005 poured a copper collor w/ a nice white well laced head. Smell is very mild lightly sweet of light fruits probably pears. Palate is carbonated well coated and solid. FLavor is odd a lingering oaky woody w/ a small front of brown sugar. a wierd beer. 1FastSTi (2551), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA Aug 6, 2005 Pours to a bronzed mahogany body with a creamy white head. The aroma is non-existent. I don’t get a damned thing. The flavor is roasted coffee malts and iced tea. Fairly strong. The palate is carbonated and light to medium bodied. JPDIPSO (4865), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Jul 14, 2005 Hazy amber color with a lid of ecru bubbles. Aromas of cream, light berries and caramel. More amber and cream ale flavors. Mild malt with mixed berries are front and center. Mild floral hops flavors with a wild flower bitterness meld nicely. Really just a decent amber. hopdog (5534), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 11, 2005 On tap at the Water Street in Delafield location. Poured a medium copper color with an averaged sized off white head aromas and tastes of citrus and caramel. Aromas on the softer side. Lots of lacing left on the glass. PorterPounder (3132), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Jun 18, 2005 On tap at their downtown Milwaukee location. Pours a light copper with a nice sized white head, good lacing. Fresh, floral aroma with some faint citrus notes. Flavor is somewhat fruity, nectarines perhaps, back end nuttiness. Mouthfeel is somewhat thick but a bit stinging. Overall a decent rendition of the style. StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA May 26, 2005 Hazy copper brown with a thin splotch of gray for a head. Aroma is like standing water in a washing machine. Flavor is tree bark, burnt tobacco leaves and toasted pecans. Nothing like Anchor Steam, which the bartender said it was intended to be like. Hoppier and maltier than expected. Some resin and pumpernickel undertones. I think I was just the subject of a brewer’s experiment.
