Water Street Whiskey Stout

I had this as part of a sampler at the brewery (which I thought was one of the best brewpubs I’ve been to). Subtle smokiness and while the whiskey is ever present, it’s very smooth. This was the first one gone from my sampler pack.

Had this the other day while not enjoying a very disappointing meal at the brewery. Poured a black color with minimal head. Aroma was very faint, virtually non-existent. I certainly didn’t get anything resembling whiskey out of it. Flavor offered some roastiness you’d expect from a stout along with a touch of smoke, but again, so sign of any whiskey being near this beer during its production. Mouthfeel was quite thin and watery. All-in-all, hardly something I’d rush out to get again. I had this on-tap at the brewery.

On tap at Water Street downtown. Great aroma of whiskey. Very thin, true to style.

I thought this beer had a really nice flavor of whiskey that helped attriubute the long finish. A cool effort.
