pivnizub (3900), Porúří, Germany Sep 22, 2007 Bottle (bought at Rudat’s, Dortmund): Rddiosh amber coloured, stable yellowish-tanned head, solid sweet fruity-malty nose with a touch of molasses; full sweet flavour, full bodied, a bit fizzy MF; sweet dark-malty finish with a rather restrained bitterness in the aftertaste. Not bad, but quite sugary and a bit monotonous.........
Fin (2357), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Aug 1, 2008 Bottle at Monk, Brussels, 25-07-08 This beer was served in an earthenware mug so colour was difficult to determine (looked brown) This is a fairly simple inoffensive dubbel, quite smooth some soft candy and demarara sugar, malty and I keep coming back to the sweetness maybe a little too sweet, its ok. oh6gdx (6339), Vaasa, Finland Jul 28, 2008 Bottled. Deep hazy amber colour with small beige head. Aroma is caramel malts, alcohol and some spices and yeast. Slight notes of burnt sugar and plum too as it warms up. Flavour is sices, yeast, strong caramel malts, brown sugar as well as mild wooden notes. screwball (703), Motala, Sweden Jul 20, 2008 Bottle. Brown body. A quite complex brew. Very sweet in both aroma and flavor. It´s fruity. Some plums. Caramelmalt. Chocolat. Malt. Burnt sugar.
When it pours down the throat the brew feels hot but in the same way pleasent and smooth. bhensonb (3013), Woodland, California, USA Jun 1, 2008 33 cl bottle from Beer Planet - what a store. Clear, dark mahogany color with a fine, multifingered, tan head. Aromas of dark fruit and roasted malt - but light in each case. Medium body with coarse, creamy carbonation. It is dark fruit, it is darker roasted malt. It is also a touch of tar. Or dark treacle. There’s also some spice, perhaps even anise. Rather complex, and leaves strange flavors at the finish. It’s very good, but not quite balanced. On the other hand it is complexly tasty. Glad I tried it. Glad I didn’t get a 750 ml. Cause I’d drink it all. It’s really pleasurable to drink. Not sip. kopestes (158), Braine l’Alleud, Belgium Mar 10, 2008 0.33l bottle. Deep brown color with ruby hew. Beige lasting head, nice lacing on the glass. Fruity and malty aroma. Taste is sweet and fruity. For my taste it lacks a bit of bitterness to balance this sweet taste. But all in all very nice beer.
